Qatari Ambassador to Rwanda Passes Away

Qatar’s Ambassador to Rwanda, Misfer bin Faisal Al Shahwani, passed away on Friday, July 19, as announced by Qatar’s Prime Minister. The cause of death and location were not disclosed.

“We extend our condolences to ourselves and the families of the deceased Qatari diplomat, His Excellency Mr. Misfer bin Faisal Al Shahwani, the Ambassador of the State of Qatar to Rwanda, who passed away today,” wrote Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Muhammad bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani on X. “We ask God Almighty to accept and forgive him and to inspire his family and friends’ patience and solace.”

Al Shahwani had served as Qatar’s ambassador to Rwanda since October 2021. Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Olivier Nduhungirehe, also conveyed his condolences.

“I wish to convey our sincere condolences to the State of Qatar and the bereaved family for the passing of a diplomat and colleague, H.E. Misfer bin Faisal Al Shahwani, Ambassador of the State of Qatar in Kigali,” Nduhungirehe wrote on X. “May his soul rest in peace.”
