Maseru, Lesotho – Lesotho’s Foreign Minister, Hon. Lejone Mpotjoana, used a press conference today to garner support for the Kingdom’s candidate for Commonwealth Secretary-General and address a concerning issue related to student scholarships.
Mpotjoana, speaking at the Qhobosheaneng Government Complex, highlighted the government’s full backing for the campaign. He was joined by Mr. Joshua Setipa, whose presence underscored the importance Lesotho places on this international position.
The press conference also addressed a separate, pressing matter: the plight of an estimated 3,000 Basotho students studying abroad. These students, awarded partial scholarships, now find themselves stranded due to a lack of sufficient funding. Mpotjoana emphasized the urgent need for government intervention to assist these students.
The specific details of the government’s planned support for the students and the Commonwealth Secretary-General candidate were not disclosed at the press conference.
