Zambia and India marked a milestone in their diplomatic relationship with the unveiling of a logo commemorating 60 years of ties between the two nations. The logo launch ceremony was held in Lusaka on June 11th, 2024, and co-hosted by Ms. Etambuyu Anamela Gundersen, Zambia’s Permanent Secretary for International Relations and Cooperation, and His Excellency Mr. Ashok Kumar, the Indian High Commissioner to Zambia.

Ms. Gundersen highlighted the strong bond between Zambia and India, built on shared values of freedom, democracy, and good governance. She expressed Zambia’s appreciation for India’s ongoing support and technical assistance in various sectors. Gundersen also extended an invitation to Indian investors, urging them to explore opportunities in Zambia’s key sectors like agriculture, mining, and manufacturing.

High Commissioner Kumar echoed Ms. Gundersen’s sentiments, emphasizing the exceptional bilateral relations that have flourished between Zambia and India over the decades. He announced plans for a series of events organized by the Indian community, cultural organizations, and friends of India, all supported by the Zambian government. These events will celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations and further strengthen the ties between the two nations.

The logo serves as a symbol of the enduring friendship between Zambia and India, marking six decades of collaboration and mutual respect. The upcoming joint celebrations promise to be a vibrant showcase of this long-standing partnership.
