Dennis Francis, President of the United Nations 78th Session of the General Assembly, arrived in Juba, South Sudan, on Wednesday afternoon. His visit aims to reinforce the General Assembly’s commitment to peace and prosperity in the country and to connect with South Sudan’s people and government.
Francis was greeted at Juba International Airport by Hon. Amb. Monday Semaya Kumba, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and Anita Kiki Gbeho, the UN Deputy Special Representative and Resident Coordinator.
Hon. Amb. Kumba reaffirmed South Sudan’s dedication to the United Nations, highlighting the government’s commitment to strengthening its engagement and cooperation with the international body. Amb. Cecilia Adeng, South Sudan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, was also present to welcome Francis.
