Nairobi, Kenya – Prime Cabinet Secretary Dr. Musalia Mudavadi and Rtd. Hon. Raila Odinga, Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, announced Kenya’s robust campaign for Odinga’s candidacy for the African Union Commission (AUC) Chairmanship at a joint press briefing today.

Dr. Mudavadi underscored the government’s full support for Odinga, describing him as a Pan-Africanist committed to the AU’s ‘Think Africa above all’ principle. He emphasized Odinga’s vision for reforming the AU to become a more people-centered organization and highlighted the creation of an inclusive team to lead the campaign.

The Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, in collaboration with Odinga’s team, has established a campaign Secretariat to strategize and support the bid. Dr. Mudavadi expressed confidence in Odinga’s ability to advance the continent’s aspirations as outlined in “The Africa We Want” vision for 2063.

Odinga, who served as the AU representative for infrastructure and development, appreciated the government’s backing and stressed the importance of succeeding in this quest. He cited his experience and dedication to realizing a united and developed Africa.
