SEOUL, June 2 – President Paul Kagame arrived in Seoul, South Korea, on Sunday to participate in the inaugural Korea-Africa Summit. He is set to deliver remarks at the summit’s opening alongside other global leaders.

The summit, scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, will be co-chaired by South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol and African Union Chairman Mohamed El Ghazouani of Mauritania. It aims to strengthen the partnership between South Korea and Africa, focusing on the theme “The Future We Make Together: Shared Growth, Sustainability, and Solidarity.”

High-ranking officials, business leaders, and economic experts from both regions will gather to discuss key issues such as industrial development, trade expansion, food and mineral security, and climate change responses, all crucial to the interests of both Korea and Africa.

On the sidelines of the summit, President Kagame will visit Yonsei University, where he will receive an Honorary Doctorate in Public Policy and Management. Founded in 1885, Yonsei University is one of South Korea’s top three universities and houses 178 research centers.
