Global Leaders Mourn Death of Iran’s President Raisi

Leaders from around the world are offering their condolences following the death of Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi and eight others in a helicopter crash on Sunday. Among the deceased was Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.

Former Iranian President Hassan Rouhani sent a message of condolences, honoring Raisi, the foreign minister, and the other victims of the crash.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sorrow on X, stating, “Deeply saddened and shocked by the tragic demise of Dr. Seyed Ebrahim Raisi, President of the Islamic Republic of Iran. His contribution to strengthening India-Iran bilateral relationship will always be remembered. My heartfelt condolences to his family and the people of Iran. India stands with Iran in this time of sorrow.”

Iraq’s Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al Sudani conveyed “sincere condolences and sympathy” to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and the Iranian government, affirming solidarity with the Iranian people during this painful time.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced that Pakistan will observe a day of mourning, with the flag flying at half-mast in respect for President Raisi and his companions, expressing solidarity with Iran.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro expressed his shock at the news, extending deepest condolences to Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and wishing for divine consolation for such a significant loss.

UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan offered heartfelt sympathies, stating that the UAE stands in solidarity with Iran during this difficult time.

Qatar’s Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani extended his sincere condolences to the government and people of Iran following the deaths of Raisi and Amir-Abdollahian.

Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad also sent condolences, highlighting Raisi’s efforts to strengthen relations between Syria and Iran, as reported by state news agency SANA.
