Vietnam Nominates General To Lam as President

HANOI, 18th May, 2024 – The Communist Party Central Committee of Vietnam has nominated General To Lam, a member of the Politburo and Minister of Public Security, as the next President of Vietnam, as reported by the Vietnam News Agency.

Following the conclusion of the Party Central Committee’s ninth session, Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trọng convened with key leaders to address crucial matters and finalize nominations for the 15th National Assembly (NA) elections. The committee reached a unanimous decision to nominate General To Lam for the presidential position.

In addition to nominating General To Lam for the presidency, the committee also selected Tran Thanh Man, Politburo member and NA Permanent Vice Chairman, as the nominee for the position of National Assembly Chairman. General Secretary Trọng extended his congratulations to the nominees, highlighting the committee’s collective support for their leadership.
