Durban, South Africa – Tourism Ministers from across the continent convened for a dialogue session at the Southern Sun Elangeni hotel in a bid to unlock Africa’s tourism potential, . Held alongside the annual Tourism Indaba, the session aimed to foster collaboration between policymakers, industry stakeholders, and air travel experts.
Titled “Air connectivity: a catalyst for Tourism Development in Africa,” the discussion focused on how increased air travel options could supercharge the continent’s tourism sector. A key concern was establishing more direct routes between African nations, streamlining travel and potentially lowering costs. This, in turn, is expected to attract a larger number of tourists and bolster regional economies.
The dialogue session, led by Eswatini’s Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Jane Mkhonta-Simelane, provided a platform for knowledge sharing and brainstorming on strategies to enhance air connectivity within Africa.
