Durban, South Africa – May 14, 2024: The Zambian government has pledged continued support for tourism development, citing the impressive turnout of Zambian companies at the ongoing Africa’s Travel Indaba (ATI) as a testament to this commitment.

Evans Muhanga, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Tourism, is leading the Zambian delegation at the event. He highlighted the significance of such a large private sector presence, stating, “This will raise the profile of Zambia on the continent and globally.”

Africa’s Travel Indaba is a premier tourism marketing event, attracting international buyers and media. Mr. Muhanga acknowledged the industry’s potential for job creation, local business support, and economic empowerment, evidenced by his participation in high-level meetings like the Business Opportunities Networking Day (BONDay).

Zambia’s High Commissioner to South Africa, Mazuba Monze, echoed the positive sentiment. “Zambia will be exposed to a larger tourism community through the linkages and networking that will be created,” she said, commending the strong showing of Zambian companies (38 in total) participating under the umbrella of the Zambia Tourism Agency (ZTA).

The four-day long Indaba, held under the theme “Unlimited Africa,” brings together over 10,000 regional and international tourism professionals. It serves as a crucial platform for forging partnerships and exploring growth opportunities within the global tourism industry. The event concludes on May 16th, 2024.
