Zambia’s President Hakainde Hichilema expressed gratitude to the President of Kenya, Dr. William Ruto, for extending an invitation to the State House, enabling him to address the high-level mediation for South Sudan.
During his speech, President Hichilema underscored the interconnectedness of stability, emphasizing that turmoil in any part of Africa, including South Sudan, reverberates across the continent. He urged for a prioritization of peace over conflict, stressing the imperative for President Salva Kiir and the opposition to prioritize the well-being of South Sudanese citizens.
Highlighting the need for intra-African trade, President Hichilema advocated for a shift towards exporting goods and services rather than exacerbating internal conflicts. He emphasized the pivotal role of a peaceful and unified Africa in fostering development, stressing that peace and security are prerequisites for national progress in South Sudan.
