El Salvador and Ethiopia pledged to deepen ties in a meeting between their respective Foreign Ministers on April 29th 2004.
Leading the Salvadoran delegation, Foreign Minister Alexandra Hill Tinoco announced El Salvador’s decision to open its second embassy in Africa, with Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, as the chosen location. Ethiopian Foreign Minister, Ambassador Taye Atske-Selassie, offered his government’s full support in establishing the new embassy.
The discussion between the ministers focused on strengthening bilateral relations and collaboration in international organizations aligned with the “South-South” cooperation framework, which promotes solidarity among developing nations. Additionally, both countries expressed a desire to expand cooperation in education, agriculture, sports, and various other sectors.
