Somalia, Mauritania Seek to Deepen Ties at OIC Meeting

Somali Foreign Minister Ahmed Maalem Faqi Ahmed met with his Mauritanian counterpart Mohamed Salem Ould Marzouk on the sidelines of an Islamic Cooperation Organization (OIC) conference in Bangul, Gambia. The discussion focused on strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation between the two African nations.

The ministers explored avenues for deeper collaboration in various areas, aiming to achieve mutual prosperity. They also exchanged views on current regional and international developments of shared interest.

Somali officials, including the country’s representative to the OIC and a candidate for the African Union Commission presidency, attended the meeting. Representing Mauritania were the ambassador charged with duties at the Foreign Minister’s office and the Director of Arab League and OIC Affairs at the Mauritanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
