Nigerians seeking passports can ditch the long queues and embrace the digital age as the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced the launch of a fully automated online application system. This groundbreaking initiative, scheduled to go live on January 8th, promises a “sweet experience” for applicants and marks a significant step towards President Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda.
“We are good to go live,” declared Minister Tunji-Ojo during an inspection of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) facilities alongside Comptroller General Wura-Ola Adepoju. “This new system eliminates the need for physical visits and human contact, minimizing bureaucracy and maximizing convenience for Nigerians.”
The online platform, heralded as a major victory in the fight against fraudulent document submissions, boasts robust security measures and enhanced comfort. “We have significantly reduced human interaction in the entire process,” the minister emphasized, adding that document verification officers stationed across all local government areas will ensure the integrity of applications.
