The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have suspended their planned strike scheduled to commence on Wednesday due to naira scarcity.
The labour unions made this announcement after their National Executive Council meeting on Tuesday.
The NLC President, Joe Ajaero, stated that the stay-at-home directive issued to workers last week would be put on hold, but they would resume the planned protest if naira notes become unavailable to Nigerians by the end of two weeks.
The CBN governor, Godwin Emefiele, had met with the union’s leadership to avert the strike, where he assured them of measures to alleviate the naira crunch in the country.
