At least eleven commissioners in Sokoto State have abandoned the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and joined the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
This came after the state’s Deputy Governor, Manir Muhammad Dan Iya, publicly announced his resignation from the main opposition party.
According to a report by DAILY POST, Muhammad revealed his departure in a letter addressed to the PDP Ward Chairman of Kware Ward in Kware Local Government Area.
The news of the defection emerged just a few hours before the APC’s presidential campaign rally.
The APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, and his running mate, Kassim Shettima, are scheduled to arrive in the state for the rally on Thursday, where the defectors are expected to be officially welcomed into the party by President Muhammadu Buhari.
