Chris Edeh bags honorary doctorate from Gregory University

Gregory University, Uturu, Abia State, has honoured Johannesburg-based Nigerian businessman.

The Director of Partnership and Growth, Africa Sustainable Energy Association, Chris Edeh, has been conferred an honorary doctor of Business Administration from the Gregory University in Uturu, Nigeria.

The Entrepreneur, Engineer, Investor, Innovator, and accomplished speaker who has over two decades of experience in energy, mining, agriculture, healthcare, telecommunication, and consumer-related industries working on various projects in Nigeria, South Africa, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Netherlands, Germany, and Denmark.

Dr. Chris Edeh received the honorary degree at the congregation for the conferment of honorary doctorate degree that was held in Senate House, Uturu on 10th December 2022.

The honor was bestowed on him on behalf of the Board of Trustees, Governing Council, Senate, Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor and Registrar of Gregory University, Uturu, as he was unanimously selected as one of the outstanding and exemplary Professionals in business administration.

Expressing his appreciation to the university, Dr. Chris Edeh said now is the time for Africa to stand up. If AfCFTA’s goals are fully realized, 50 million people could escape extreme poverty by 2035, and real income could rise by 9 percent. Under deep integration, Africa’s exports to the rest of the world would go up by 32 percent by 2035, and intra-African exports would grow by 109 percent, led by manufactured goods.

He added that he is committed to continuing with his contribution to promoting and building capacity in line with the vision of the African Continental Free Trade Area with the establishment of the Centre for Export Development at the Gregory University.

Edeh, who is one of the pioneers of clean energy in Africa has supported the Africa Sustainable Energy Association in getting a foothold globally. He is also the Island innovation Ambassador for Africa. The Island Ambassador Program hones the skills of future leaders committed to enhancing the resilience of island communities, ensuring a place in the global arena for islanders to collaborate and create vitally solutions.

As an accomplished public speaker, Chris has spoken at the UN programs in Bonn, Germany, and Cairo, Egypt on biodiversity and sustainability in Africa. Besides, he counts as one of the leading experts in renewable energy and Circular economy and sustainability in sub-Saharan Africa, with a series of public lectures and talks on The Flourishing Circular Entrepreneurial Ecosystem in Africa, Where Business and Circularity Intersect, sustainable development, sustainable energy transition models for Africa, driving the African economy through clean energy, etc. in Nigeria, Zambia, Ghana, the USA, China, Italy, Zimbabwe, Belgium, and Mozambique.

He is an executive board member of Pax SA, PrH Asset Managers, Angel & Harvard cooling, and African Sustainable Energy Association (AFSEA)
