Mogadishu, April 24, 2024 — The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, H.E. Amb. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, hosted the Head of the IGAD Mission to the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Mr. Mohamud Abdi Ahmed, for discussions in Mogadishu on Wednesday.
The meeting, held at the Ministry’s headquarters in the capital, served as a platform for cordial exchanges and strategic dialogue. Mr. Mohamud conveyed warm regards from the Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu, congratulating Minister Fiqi on his recent assumption of office. Dr. Gebeyehu extended best wishes for Minister Fiqi’s tenure, underlining hopes for productive collaboration.
Key topics featured prominently during the talks, with particular attention given to the regional protocol concerning transhumance. Additionally, deliberations centered on the concerted efforts aimed at expediting the ratification process of the IGAD Treaty, signifying the collective commitment to regional integration and stability.
