Gaborone, Botswana – Botswana’s First Lady, Neo Jane Masisi, hosted a historic meeting yesterday with female Heads of Missions and Ambassadors accredited to the country. This marked the first time the First Lady had interacted with the diplomatic community as a collective group.
The gathering aimed to familiarize the ambassadors with the First Lady’s office mandate, foster knowledge exchange, and explore potential areas of collaboration.
Mrs. Masisi emphasized that her office’s activities are guided by national objectives like Vision 2036 and the Sustainable Development Goals. She specifically sought support from the female diplomats on issues related to women’s empowerment, both economic and social.
Ambassador Athalia Molokomme, speaking on behalf of the Heads of Missions, expressed their deep appreciation for the First Lady’s initiative. She reiterated the ambassadors’ commitment to serving Botswana and pledged their willingness to collaborate with Mrs. Masisi’s office.
