Akinsemolu Urges Young Lawyers to Champion Justice, Sustainability

Nigerian environmental icon Adenike Akinsemolu delivered a powerful keynote address at the 3rd Annual Symposium of the Young Lawyers’ Forum in Ikere Ekiti, Nigeria. The event, honoring the legal luminary Prof. Damilola S. Olawuyi, focused on the crucial role young lawyers play in advancing social justice and environmental well-being.

Akinsemolu, a National Geographic Explorer and renowned environmental scientist, captivated the audience with her personal journey of advocacy. She emphasized the importance of collaboration across disciplines, particularly highlighting her work with Prof. Olawuyi at the intersection of gender justice and biodiversity conservation. Their groundbreaking work, set for publication in prestigious academic journals like Oxford and Cambridge Press, promises fresh perspectives on tackling global challenges.

Akinsemolu paid tribute to Prof. Olawuyi’s legacy, acknowledging him as a mentor who shaped her path from aspiring lawyer to environmental champion. Her address served as a rallying cry for the young lawyers, urging them to embrace multidisciplinary approaches for impactful advocacy. She stressed the importance of data-driven arguments, mentorship, and unwavering commitment to justice and sustainability.
