Nairobi, Kenya – Kenya and Egypt are fostering closer collaboration as they co-host the 7th Session of the Kenya-Egypt Joint Commission for Cooperation (JCC). The week-long event, which began on March 5th, signifies the strong relationship between the two nations.
The JCC serves as a platform for technical experts and ministers to discuss and advance cooperation across various sectors. The Senior Officials Meeting (SOM) kicked off the event, with Amb. Yabesh Monari, representing Dr. Korir SingOei, Principal Secretary for the Kenyan State Department of Foreign Affairs, officiating the opening ceremony.
In his address, Amb. Monari welcomed the Egyptian delegation and highlighted the long-standing ties between the two countries. He noted the JCC’s special significance as it coincides with the 60th anniversary of Kenya and Egypt’s diplomatic relations.
Leading the Egyptian delegation was Amb. Ihad Ahad, Assistant Foreign Minister for African Affairs. He emphasized the importance of identifying areas for strategic collaboration that can further strengthen the relationship between the two nations.
The JCC discussions will delve into potential areas of cooperation, including infrastructure development, agriculture, healthcare, trade expansion, and renewable energy.
The meeting brings together a distinguished group of attendees, including H.E. Amb. Wael Nasreldin Attiya, Egyptian Ambassador to Kenya, Amb. Dennis Mburu, Director for Africa Affairs and Chair of the Inter-Ministerial Preparatory Committee for Kenya, and Amb. Paul Ndungu, Acting Director General of the Kenyan Foreign Service Academy.
