Windhoek, Namibia – February 25, 2024: A somber ceremony unfolded at Heroes Acre today as Namibia laid to rest its former President, Hage Geingob. The nation mourned the loss of a leader who dedicated his life to the fight for freedom and the betterment of his people.

President Geingob’s journey was lauded by His Excellency Dr. Nangolo Mbumba, the current President of Namibia. He spoke of Geingob’s unwavering commitment, starting as a courageous freedom fighter and culminating in his service as the nation’s first Prime Minister and third President. Dr. Mbumba described him as a “Son of the Soil, a revolutionary icon and torchbearer of freedom, justice, and equality.”

The ceremony acknowledged Geingob’s tireless efforts, not just for his family and Namibia, but for the oppressed throughout the world. He was recognized for his unwavering dedication, characterized by Dr. Mbumba as someone who “fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith.”
