Abuja, Nigeria – The Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that President Bola Tinubu’s visit to Qatar will proceed as planned on March 2nd and 3rd, despite recent media reports raising doubts about the trip.
The confirmation comes following a letter from the Qatari government to Nigeria expressing scheduling conflicts and the absence of a formal investment agreement as obstacles to hosting a planned business forum during the visit.
However, in a statement released on Saturday, the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized the longstanding relationship between the two nations and the importance of President Tinubu’s visit in strengthening these ties.
“The Federal Republic of Nigeria and the State of Qatar have a long history of friendship and close bilateral relations,” the statement reads. “The forthcoming visit to Doha by HE President Tinubu will help build on this important relationship.”
The Ministry acknowledged the circulation of the diplomatic correspondence in the media but declined to comment on leaks, focusing instead on reaffirming the scheduled visit and its significance in fostering stronger ties between Nigeria and Qatar.
