Addis Ababa, Ethiopia: Ethiopia and Spain reaffirmed their commitment to a deeper, strategic partnership as outgoing Spanish Ambassador Manuel Salazar bid farewell to Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Demeke Mekonnen today.
Mekonnen, acknowledging Ambassador Salazar’s “remarkable contributions,” commended Spain’s unwavering support during “Ethiopia’s difficult times.” He expressed Ethiopia’s eagerness to elevate their historical cooperation “to a strategic level,” encompassing various sectors like trade, investment, aviation, and development.
Ambassador Salazar reciprocated, expressing Spain’s view of Ethiopia as “a major partner.” He highlighted the significant advancements in bilateral relations, particularly in development cooperation, trade, and investment, in recent years. Spain, he declared, stands ready to “enhance its ever growing and comprehensive relations” with Ethiopia.
