ABU DHABI, UAE (December 16, 2023): During a recent telephone conversation, President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan of the UAE and President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey reiterated their dedication to bolstering bilateral relations and promoting regional stability. The leaders explored opportunities for increased collaboration between their countries, with the goal of unlocking additional prosperity for their respective populations.
Beyond bilateral matters, the conversation delved into pressing regional concerns, with the current situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory taking center stage. Both leaders emphasized the urgency of an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, stressing the need to protect civilians under international law, facilitate unhindered humanitarian aid delivery, and prevent the forced displacement of Palestinians.
Recognizing the long-term path towards stability, Sheikh Mohamed and Erdogan reiterated their support for a just and comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution. They urged all parties to engage constructively in finding a lasting resolution that restores regional security.
The call also touched upon the recent 28th UN Climate Change Conference (COP28), where the UAE played a pivotal role in forging the “UAE Consensus” to drive global climate action. President Erdogan commended Sheikh Mohamed for the UAE’s leadership in securing this critical agreement, highlighting its potential to benefit humanity as a whole.
