Paramaribo, Suriname – The French Days in Paramaribo (JFP2023) kicked off with a resounding success, marking the beginning of a week-long cultural and diplomatic exchange between Suriname and France. The event, which opened last night, was graced by the presence of Virginie Lemay, Director of the Alliance française Suriname, and Nicolas de Lacoste, the French Ambassador to Suriname and Guyana.
Guests were treated to a “Tour des Vines de France,” a delectable journey through the world of French wines, accompanied by a tantalizing array of French culinary specialties. The evening also showcased the remarkable contributions of the Collectivité Territoriale de Guyane in Suriname over the past decade, highlighting the deep-rooted ties between the two nations.
This year’s JFP centers around the themes of culture, diplomacy, the Marque France global campaign, and the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. The event aims to celebrate the extraordinary potential for cooperation between Suriname and France, further strengthened by their shared proximity to French Guiana.
“We are neighbors!” proclaimed the organizers, emphasizing the enduring bond between the two countries.
