The United Arab Emirates and Nigeria have contradicted each other over whether a year-long visa ban on Nigerian travelers has been lifted.
On Monday, the Nigerian government announced that the two countries had finalized a historic agreement to lift the visa ban and resume flights between them.
However, a UAE official told CNN that there had been no changes to the travel status between the two countries.
The UAE imposed the visa ban on Nigeria and 19 other African nations in October 2022, without providing any explanation.
The ban has been met with widespread criticism from Nigerians, who say it is unfair and discriminatory.
In a follow-up statement, the Nigerian government spokesman said that officials from both countries needed more time to finalize the details of the agreement.
It is unclear when or if the visa ban will be lifted.
