Juba, South Sudan – South Sudan’s Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hon. Deng Dau Deng, met with his South African counterpart, Hon. Grace Naledi Mandisa Pandor, Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, on Tuesday in Juba.
The meeting was held ahead of the visit of the Republic of South Africa’s Deputy President, who is expected to arrive in Juba on Wednesday.
In their meeting, the two ministers discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between South Sudan and South Africa. They also discussed the ongoing peace process in South Sudan and the role that South Africa can play in supporting the peace process.
Hon. Deng said that the visit of the South African delegation would be an opportunity to further strengthen the ties between the two countries. He said that South Sudan and South Africa have a long history of cooperation and that they share many common goals.
Hon. Pandor said that the visit was a sign of the strong relations between South Sudan and South Africa. She said that South Africa is committed to supporting South Sudan in its peace process and in its development efforts.
The South African delegation is expected to stay in Juba for two days. They are scheduled to meet with President Salva Kiir and other government officials.
