Windhoek, Namibia – The Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation (MIRCO) extended a warm welcome to a technical team from the Brazilian Cooperation Agency during their visit to Namibia. Led by MSC José Solla, Head and General Coordinator of Humanitarian Cooperation, the team had the opportunity to assess the progress of two projects funded by Brazil: the Tsumkwe and Epako Integrated Food Systems Projects.

To facilitate fruitful discussions and explore avenues for expanding technical and humanitarian cooperation, MIRCO, in collaboration with the World Food Programme (WFP) and the Embassy of Brazil in Windhoek, organized a briefing session. The visiting Brazilian technical team engaged in extensive conversations with various government stakeholders, seeking opportunities to strengthen their support and cooperation with Namibia.

Under the leadership of Amb. Sabine Böhlke-Möller, Head of the Bilateral Relations and Cooperation Department at MIRCO, the meeting fostered productive dialogue. Joining her were H.E. Vivian Loss Sanmartin, Ambassador of Brazil to Namibia, and Ms. Ericah Shafuda, Deputy Representative of the WFP.

MIRCO views this visit as an affirmation to the excellent and warm relations that exist between Namibia and Brazil. The engagement serves as an opportunity to deepen and strengthen bilateral cooperation in various areas of mutual interest.

The Tsumkwe and Epako Integrated Food Systems Projects, funded by Brazil, have played a crucial role in enhancing food security and promoting sustainable development in Namibia. By visiting these projects, the Brazilian technical team gained firsthand insights into their implementation and impact on the local communities.

The discussions held during the briefing session aimed to identify areas where technical and humanitarian cooperation could be expanded. Through knowledge sharing and collaboration, both countries seek to leverage their expertise and resources to address pressing challenges and promote sustainable development in Namibia.
