Hichilema Honored with Ghanaian Honorary Degree for Democracy Commitment

Hakainde Hichilema, the President of the Republic of Zambia, expressed his deep gratitude and pride upon receiving an honorary Degree of Doctor of Humane Letters (Honoris Causa) from Valley View University of Ghana in Accra. The prestigious award was bestowed upon four individuals, including former President of Ghana, His Excellency John Agyekum Kufuor.

In a heartfelt statement, President Hichilema humbly accepted and appreciated the Honorary Degree, showing its significance as a commitment to their unwavering dedication to democracy, freedom, and their Christian faith. Despite this esteemed recognition, he made it clear that his official title remains “Mr. President,” the established and customary prefix of the State.

The ceremony held in Accra was a momentous occasion, bringing together influential figures from the political and academic spheres to celebrate the achievements and contributions of the awardees. Valley View University of Ghana, renowned for its commitment to excellence in education, chose to honor President Hichilema and the other recipients for their exceptional leadership and remarkable commitment to advancing the principles of democracy.

President Hichilema’s reception of the honorary degree highlights the growing recognition of his efforts not only within Zambia but also on an international level. As the leader of the Republic of Zambia, his commitment to democracy and freedom has garnered significant attention and admiration from various corners of the globe.

The honorary Degree of Doctor of Humane Letters is a prestigious accolade reserved for individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to society, embodying the highest ideals of humanity. By conferring this honor upon President Hichilema, Valley View University of Ghana acknowledges his outstanding achievements and the positive impact he has made on the lives of his fellow citizens.
