South Africa’s Deputy Minister attends extraordinary meeting in Namibia to address regional issues

WINDHOEK, NAMIBIA – South Africa’s Deputy Minister Mashego-Dlamini arrived in Namibia today to attend the Extraordinary Meeting of the Organ Troika Ministerial Committee Plus SADC Troika and FIB. She was received at Hosea Kutako International Airport in Windhoek by H.E Ms. Thenjiwe Ethel Mtintso, South Africa’s High Commissioner to Namibia.

The meeting, which will take place on May 7th, 2023, brings together officials from the Organ Troika Ministerial Committee Plus #SADC Troika and FIB to discuss issues of regional security, economic development, and political stability. The meeting promises to be an important platform for regional dialogue and collaboration, with representatives from across the region in attendance.

In her remarks to Deputy Minister Mashego-Dlamini, High Commissioner Mtintso emphasized the importance of cooperation between South Africa and Namibia in addressing the challenges facing the region. “We must work together to find solutions to the issues we face,” she said. “And we must do so with a spirit of cooperation and solidarity.”

The meeting will be an opportunity for officials from the region to engage in productive discussions on a range of issues affecting Southern Africa. With the support and cooperation of leaders like High Commissioner Mtintso and Deputy Minister Mashego-Dlamini, there is hope that the meeting will lead to real progress towards a brighter future for the region.

The FIB, or Southern African Development Community (SADC) Standby Force Mission in Lesotho, is a regional security initiative aimed at promoting peace and stability in the region. Its participation in the Extraordinary Meeting underscores the importance of regional cooperation in addressing security challenges.

Overall, the meeting is an important opportunity for officials from across the region to come together and address the pressing issues facing Southern Africa.
