The UAE Embassy in Paris hosted a special interfaith iftar on Wednesday, bringing together guests from the political, economic, and cultural fields, along with representatives from Muslim, Christian, Jewish, and other religious communities in France. The event was held to mark the opening of the Abrahamic Family House in Abu Dhabi, which aims to promote interfaith dialogue and understanding.

The date of the iftar event is significant as it fell during Ramadan, which coincided this year with Christian Easter and Jewish Passover. The embassy’s seventh session of “Majlon” activities, which aims to bring together prominent figures from the UAE and France to discuss issues of common interest and strengthen Emirati-French relations, was also held during the iftar.

Hend Al Otaiba, the UAE’s ambassador to France, expressed her delight at hosting the interfaith iftar and celebrating openness and tolerance, which are pillars of Emirati society and values embodied by the Abrahamic Family House. She highlighted the importance of dialogue, exposure, and understanding in these challenging times.

Abdulla Al Shehhi, project director of the Abrahamic Family House, delivered a presentation about the unique institution and its role in promoting values of tolerance and peaceful coexistence that characterize the UAE. These values reflect the vision of the UAE Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and the late President Sheikh Khalifa, while President Sheikh Mohamed continues to support and promote these principles.

The event received positive feedback, and Ms Al Otaiba expressed gratitude to the UAE Embassy in Paris for organizing such an important event that reflects the principles of human fraternity. She added that it is a vivid example of the values of tolerance and coexistence established in the UAE and embodied in the Abrahamic Family House.
