According to a top official, Seychelles’ Port Victoria is making efforts to digitize its services in time for the commercial port’s 50th anniversary in October.

The transport minister, Antony Derjaques, noted that the Port of Victoria Management Information System (PVMIS) is an essential component of the port’s modernization efforts.

The web-based PVMIS solution is designed to enable real-time planning and management of port operations, with full control of core port activities such as vessel traffic management, vessel calls, and cargo handling operations.

Egbert Moustache, the deputy chief executive of the Seychelles Ports Authority, highlighted that the new system would streamline processes, optimize cargo flows, and improve operational efficiency for all stakeholders.

The project will also help Seychelles comply with the International Maritime Organisation (IMO) Convention for Facilitation of International Maritime Traffic by 2024.

The project, which costs €400,000, is a collaboration between the SPA, InfoPort, and 4SH companies, and the European Union through its Africa RISE initiative.
